I recently observed a tirade from the Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker expressing his displeasure with the state of affairs in America. Unfortunately, however, the Mayor’s views are so distorted because of the nature of the constituency he represents, that there can be no merit for his discontentment.
Booker represents a district that has extremely disproportionate levels of unemployment, section 8 housing, and welfare dependent families, that have had such generational dependency on the federal government, that almost all ambition and self determination for achievement has been abandoned.
I have been there. The city of Irvington, N.J., a suburb of Newark, is so scary that you lock your car door, while your car is moving. Crime rates in Booker’s district are some of the highest in America. Booker’s policies have consistently doubled down on the pathetic theory, that government handouts can lift people out of the slums. If Booker has aspirations of running for President in 2020, he should look in his own backyard first.
The Democratic programs that he so dearly embraces have only enslaved a large portion of his, and so many districts like it to a life of federal servitude, not unlike that which Abraham Lincoln and many others fought and died to abolish.
